PatientKeeper Experiences Record Growth in 2010

WALTHAM, Mass. --(Business Wire)--

PatientKeeper®, Inc., the leading provider of physician health information systems (HIS), today announced that 2010 was the best year in the company's 11-year history. Highlights of the year include record-breaking sales, increased physician adoption of existing and new products, and significant expansion of its product line.

The company said bookings grew by over 200 percent during the past year through a combination of new customers and add-on sales of new applications to existing customers, including PatientKeeper CPOE™ and PatientKeeper NoteWriter™. PatientKeeper's user base of physicians grew by 73 percent from 15,000 physicians in January to over 26,000 in December.

"We are thrilled with PatientKeeper's performance," said Paul Brient, president and CEO of PatientKeeper. "Our computerized physician order entry (CPOE) system has been particularly well received in the hospital market as a cost-effective and physician-centric alternative to the CPOE offerings of traditional HIS vendors."

As part of its CPOE offering, PatientKeeper also unveiled a mobile CPOE solution that runs on smartphones and tablets such as the Apple (News - Alert) iPad. PatientKeeper Mobile CPOE™ won the "Best Innovation in Mobile Health Technology for Patient Safety" award at Mobile Health Expo 2010.

Strong software sales across the hospital spectrum

Customers making significant purchases of PatientKeeper CPOE include Health Management Associates, based in Naples, Fla.; Community Memorial Health System of Ventura, Calif.; Ashe MemorialHospital of North Carolina; and Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

PatientKeeper also experienced strong demand for its new physician documentation application, PatientKeeper NoteWriter. Both Mercy Medical Center and Alegent Health deployed PatientKeeper's NoteWriter application during 2010. Community Memorial and Ashe Memorial also purchased NoteWriter.

Finally, PatientKeeper continued to experience steady demand for its PatientKeeper Charge Capture™ and other financial applications from leading institutions including the University of Connecticut Health Center and the Robert Wood Johnson Medical Group of New Brunswick, N.J. Bassett Healthcare Network in upstate New York selected PatientKeeper to help the health system automate the capture of physician charges and deploy PatientKeeper's other clinical applications to support their physicians' workflow.

"In each of these instances, PatientKeeper demonstrated its ability to deliver critical software needed by hospitals and their physicians to some of the best medical facilities in the nation," Brient said. "Once installed, physicians excitedly adopt PatientKeeper software. Our goal is to help physicians more easily manage their daily activities so they can focus on their patients rather than being bogged down with ineffective or inefficient technology."

2010 also saw PatientKeeper expand its platform support to new mobile devices, including Android (News - Alert)-based smartphones and the Apple iPad. PatientKeeper's leadership in mobile applications was recognized in November by MobiHealthNews in its study, "Fastest Growing and Most Successful Health and Medical Apps", which ranked PatientKeeper Mobile Clinical Results™ among the top 10 most popular iPhone (News - Alert) apps in Apple's "EMR and Operational Apps" subcategory.

To support PatientKeeper's continued growth, the company expanded its employee base by 21 percent over the past 15 months. Last week, PatientKeeper moved to a new, larger corporate headquarters in the Boston suburb of Waltham, Mass., at the Waltham Woods office park, which is home to a number of major institutions and corporations, including the Massachusetts Medical Society and the New England Journal of Medicine.

"We view this move as symbolic of the next evolution of our business," said Brient. "PatientKeeper is solidly a mid-size enterprise software company, and we anticipate further growth and success as we continue to innovate to meet the information needs of physicians in 2011 and beyond."
