TMCnet News

TMC (News - Alert) revealed today that GENBAND President and CEO Charlie Vogt will be the keynote speaker at ITEXPO East, being held Feb. 2 to 4, at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Vogt's session is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 2, at 4.

Since joining telecom equipment supplier GENBAND in late 2004, Vogt has played an instrumental role in the company's growth -- from $5 million to more than $700 million in 2010. As president and CEO, Vogt has taken GENBAND from a single product company to a global market-share leader, achieving more than 130 percent compound annual growth over the past six years. Through strategic acquisitions, including Tekelec's IP switching division, NextPoint Networks, Nortel's (News - Alert) IP switching division, and this week's acquisition of Cedar Point Communications, Vogt has transformed GENBAND's product and service portfolio, customer profile, global footprint and financial performance.
GENBAND has also successfully secured business with two-thirds of the world's largest service providers in the broad markets of fixed, mobile and cable under Vogt's leadership. GENBAND currently employs 2,200 employees in more than 50 countries.

Vogt has received numerous awards for his leadership and corporate growth, including: Global Telecoms Business Magazine's '100 Most Powerful People'; Dallas Metroplex Technology Business Council's 'Corporate CEO of the Year' and 'Fast 50'; Collin County 60 '#1 Fastest-Growing Company'; INC 500 list of America's Fastest-Growing Private Companies'; Deloitte's (News - Alert) 'Technology Fast 500'; Saint Louis University's 'Entrepreneurial Alumni Hall of Fame'; and Ernst & Young's 'Entrepreneur of the Year.' Additionally, Vogt has been recognized for his philanthropic efforts in both the corporate and educational sectors.

Vogt serves on the Board of Directors of Kentrox (chairman), Procera Networks (PKT) and the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA (News - Alert) (News - Alert)). He is also an active member of Young Presidents Organization.

Prior to joining GENBAND, Vogt was instrumental in the operational and financial growth of five technology companies that either became public companies or were acquired. Vogt served as President and CEO of Taqua (News - Alert), which was acquired by Tekelec in 2004. Before joining Taqua, Vogt held executive leadership positions at Santera Systems, which was acquired by Tekelec in 2005; Accelerated Networks, which executed an IPO in 2000 and Ascend Communications, which was acquired by Lucent Technologies in 1999. Earlier in Vogt's career, he held sales leadership positions at ADTRAN (News - Alert), Motorola and IBM. Vogt holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from Saint Louis University.
