Wonderlic General Assessment of Instructional Needs (GAIN)® Assessment Approved by U.S. Department of Education

LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. --(Business Wire)-- Wonderlic, Inc., the recognized leader in educational and employment assessments and surveys, today announced that its recently developed General Assessment of Instructional Needs (GAIN) assessment has been approved for all Educational Functioning Levels (EFLs) by the U.S. Department of Education. This means the test can now be used by Adult Basic Education programs funded through the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Vocational and Adult Education, as well as by Workforce Investment Act (WIA) youth programs funded through the U.S. Department of Labor.

GAIN is a basic English and math proficiency assessment designed specifically for adult basic education and youth workforce development programs, and consists of two 45-minute sections. It is taken either online or via pencil and paper, is significantly shorter than other tests, works for all Educational Functioning Levels, and does not require a complicated "locator test" to determine which assessment to administer.

GAIN is a highly valid assessment of a test taker's educational functioning level (ranging from beginning literacy to high adult secondary education) and helps accurately identify educational needs. The assessment can also be used to track the degree of improvement in each student's proficiency level.

"The people who administer and teach in adult basic education and youth workforce development programs are passionate about education - not record keeping," said Ken Silber, Vice President of Education Solutions at Wonderlic. "We've given them an assessment that is simple to administer and interpret, accompanied by data management tools that help ensure accuracy and save time. Now teachers can spend their time where it will have the most impact on educational gains - teaching." GAIN Features: All-in-one test appropriate for all English-speaking young adults and adults Does not require a locator test Valid for EFLs 1-6 High-quality, well validated assessment developed by Wonderlic's highly recognized team of psychologists Easy to administer online or via paper Automatically scored Reduces testing time; completed in 90 minutes or less Includes free test administrator certification and training Diagnostics reveal instructional needs for each student Wonderlic has also unveiled an online platform that streamlines scoring and reporting of critical student information.
