Huawei Technologies Sets up R&D Center in Sweden


SHENZHEN, Oct 23, 2009 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Chinese telecoms equipment provider Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. lately established an R&D center in Gothenburg City, Sweden to provide better solutions for customers, citing a report.



In the several months to come, the R&D center is predicted to recruit 50 engineers and telecoms exports for the research on microwave and the development of base stations and IP networks.

Urban Fagerstedt, vice president for Huawei's R&D in the country, said that Gothenburg was a proper destination for his company's expansion, because of the local top-ranking universities and strong telecoms industry.


For a similar environment, Huawei opened its first Sweden-based R&D center in Stockholm as early as 2001 to develop next-generation wireless technologies, and the number of the arm's employees has reached 200, of whom 70 are natives.

In addition, the Chinese company has decided to build a fundamental research center in the northern French province of Val-d'Oise for mobile telecoms network algorithms, telecoms standards, as well as mobile service testing, citing another report.
