Barron's Discusses Retailer's "New Norm" With Citi Analyst, Deborah Weinswig (WMT,HD,TGT)


Sep 07, 2009 (SmarTrend(R) News Watch via COMTEX) -- 9/7/2009-In Barron's most recent publication the paper caught up with Deborah Weinswig, Citigroup Investment Research's retailing analyst, who said that investors must maintain a selective attitude as retailers adjust to the "new norm." The article said that while shoppers are searching for value, "conspicuous consumption is definitely out," said Weinswig, an analyst who centers research on major retailers, like Wal-Mart Stores (NYSE:WMT), Home Depot (NYSE:HD) and Target (NYSE:TGT). One of the analysts most lucrative calls was downgrading Target to Sell in February of 2008.
