Sigma Designs and 4Home Team up to Deliver Set-Top Box Reference Design for Home Control Services

MILPITAS, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Sigma Designs (News - Alert) (Nasdaq:SIGM), a leader in digital media processing system-on-chip (SoC) solutions for consumer electronics, today announced a partnership with 4Home, Inc., a leading provider of home control services, to expand the range of additional services in the home through Sigma's set-top box (STB) reference designs. As a result of this partnership, Sigma will be able to offer set-top box suppliers an integrated home control solution, based on 4Home's innovative software platform and the complete Z-Wave ecosystem of RF-based home control devices. The reference design is being unveiled at CableLabs (News - Alert)® Summer Conference, August 10 - 11, in Keystone, Colorado.

Targeted for STB's in the Cable, Telco and CE markets, the solution is designed to provide a strong foundation of control-related applications able to run in the home, including energy monitoring and conservation, safety, and security.

"Consumers want to be able to remotely access and control their home appliances to manage energy consumption, home security, and entertainment options from anywhere," said Ken Lowe, vice president of strategic marketing at Sigma Designs. "With this reference design, manufacturers can quickly enter the market with low-cost, reliable solutions for home control that enable a whole new range of options for service providers." "Managing energy usage through the STB is both timely and relevant in light of a growing worldwide focus on energy conservation," said Nate Williams, VP Business Development at 4Home. "We're looking forward to seeing our platform enable compelling energy conservation solutions for manufacturers through the ever-growing Sigma customer base."
