China Kicks off TD-LTE Test

SHENZHEN, Jul 09, 2009 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- China has started testing its 4G telecoms technology TD-LTE. Six telecoms networking gear makers such as China Putian have taken part in the test. They all have the ability to research and develop the TD-LTE technologies on their own.

In line with the testing plan of the working group for the TD-LTE test, it is set to have an indoor test in the first stage, an outdoor test in the second stage, and a massive outdoor test in the third stage.

During the third stage, the working group will test the technology in two to three major Chinese cities with 100 base stations. The indoor test was scheduled to be done within the first half of 2009.

A China Putian spokesperson discloses that the company came up with some TD-LTE prototype products as early as October 2008. And it is scheduled to launch commercial TD-LTE equipment at the end of 2010.
