Masoom inaugurates book fair

QUETTA, May 21, 2009 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- It is our foremost duty to provide students with all required academic facilities so that the students should have relations with knowledge and pen in hand as the development and future of the nation depends upon the youth of this country.

This was stated by Vice Chancellor (VC) University of Balochistan Professor Dr Masoom Yasinzai while inaugurating 3-day Book Mela (exhibition) in collaboration with Asia Foundation Islamabad here on Thursday.

Manager Asia Foundation Syed Zahid Hussain, Chief Librarian UoB Professor Mir Hassan Jamali and others attended the inaugural ceremony. Mr. Masoom Yaseenzai further said different departments, colleges and school had been invited to the book fair so that they could get books of their requirement. In addition, he said our objective is to provide education and knowledge in the society and for this purpose University is organising programmes on various topics.

He also revealed that two new laboratories and computer labs were being established so that the students of Balochistan could use new technology, adding similar book fairs would be arranged in days to come for the promotion of knowledge and creating a new zeal in the hearts and minds of the youth of Balochistan for the quest of knowledge.

Expressing his views on the occasion, Manager Asia Foundation Zahid Hussain said that UoB had been playing an important role in dissemination of knowledge, adding Asia Foundation provides modern books, software and other educational and professional material every year to the educational institutions for the promotion of knowledge.

It is pertinent to mention here that Asia Foundation has provided more than 10 thousand books at the mela on various subjects.
