Talend: Open Source Data Integration Leader Secures Funding Round to Fuel Continued Growth and Momentum

Mar 09, 2009 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- Talend, the first provider of open source data integration software, today announced another year of record growth in 2008, making the move from being a disruptive innovator to an open source data open source data integration leader. The popularity of Talend Open Studio, the company's flagship open source data integration solution, has risen sharply since its introduction more than two years ago with 3.3 million lifetime downloads. In the past 12 months, alone, Talend's paying customer base increased by more than 300 percent, steadily taking market share away from proprietary data integration tools and confirming the suitability and scalability of its solutions for enterprise projects of large and well-known companies.

"Despite the downturn in the economy, Talend was able to raise a new round of financing, which reinforces Talend's leading position in the data integration market and the benefits of open source technologies,"said Bertrand Diard, co-founder and CEO of Talend. "Over the past 12 months, we have seen hundreds of new customers and dozens of new partners embrace our open source data integration and data quality technologies as the foundation for enterprise projects. We are excited to accelerate this momentum throughout 2009." 2008 Company Highlights In 2008, Talend focused on delivering the first suite of open source data quality products, including Talend Data Quality and Talend Open Profiler, to further underscore Talend's pioneering role in open source data integration and data quality. In addition to new products, Talend expanded their customer base with more than 400 paying customers, all deploying Talend with outstanding results.

Leveraging the additional funding, in 2009, Talend will expand global operations into key markets in the Americas, EMEA and Asia-Pacific, targeting large enterprises and partners that are looking at cost-effective alternatives to proprietary integration solutions in a time of shrinking budgets and slimming services margins. The company will reinforce its position as a key player in a market still dominated by a handful of proprietary vendors. Talend will also unveil new products to help solve emerging integration requirements stemming from merger and acquisition activity.

As a first step toward extending global operations, in February 2009, Talend opened a new office in the United Kingdom (UK), based in Maidenhead. This office is run by industry veteran, Martin James, who will lead UK business operations and is responsible for driving the adoption of open source data integration in the enterprise market. James has experience in establishing and helping grow European operations for a number of world-class organisations including Sonic Software, Data Synapse, eXcelon Corporation, Candle Corporation and Computer Associates.
