Microsoft Executive to Keynote INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO West 2008


NORWALK, Conn. --(Business Wire)-- Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC(R)) announced today that Xuedong Huang, General Manager at Microsoft Corp., has agreed to deliver a keynote address at its INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO West 2008 (ITEXPO), to be held from September 16-18, 2008 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California.



Mr. Huang's address, which is open to all registered attendees, will take place Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 4:00pm (PDT). Registration for the conference is now open at http://www.itexpo.com. ITEXPO, held since 1999, is the world's largest and best-attended communications trade show. Featuring three days of educational sessions, featured speakers, networking events, and exhibit hall interaction, the event is expected to attract over 7,000 attendees.

Xuedong Huang is general manager of the Communications Innovation Center (CIC) at Microsoft Corp, and has over 20 years of experience in speech technologies. Huang joined Microsoft in 1993 and has spent his career helping to advance speech recognition technologies in a variety of capacities. He founded Microsoft's first speech recognition research group where he helped to incubate speech and natural user interface technologies. In 2000, Huang shifted his energy and served as general manager of Microsoft's Speech Platforms Group, where he led the business and development of Speech Server and other voice technologies. Prior to Microsoft, Huang directed development of the Sphinx-II speech recognition system at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Computer Sciences. For their work, Huang and his team received the 1992 Alan Newell research excellence medal, in addition to recognition from DARPA. Huang has received the National Education Commission of China's 1987 Science and Technology Progress Award, and SpeechTek has named him a top 10 leader of the speech industry.
