(SinoCast China Business Daily News Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) SHANGHAI, May 07, SinoCast -- China Eastern Airlines Corporation Ltd. (NYSE: CEA, SEHK: 0670, and SHSE: 600115), a carrier based in Shanghai, begins operating the Shanghai-Maldives-Johannesburg flight from April 27.

An Airbus A340-300 aircraft serves the new route, which links Shanghai, China's largest economic city, with Johannesburg, an economic hub in South Africa. Travelers from Mainland China can fly to South Africa without flight transfer via Hong Kong or Singapore.

The aircraft takes off from Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 23:55 and arrives in Johannesburg at 10:15 the next day.

The return flight departs Johannesburg at 14:05, and reaches Maldives at 00:50 the next day, then leaves Maldives at 02:00 and lands in Pudong Airport at 12:20. The service is available on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Now, travelers and businessmen from both sides to visit each other are becoming more and more. The launch of the new service will promote economic cooperation between the two nations, noted industry insiders from Shanghai.
