US military expands order from Tadiran Com

(Israel Business Arena Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Elbit Systems (Nasdaq: ESLT; TASE: ESLT) subsidiary Tadiran Communications (TASE: TDCM) announced today that its sub-subsidiary, Talla-Tech Inc., held through Talla-Com Industries Inc., has been notified by the US Army that it will increase the cap on its indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity (IDIQ) type contract for the provision of maintenance and spare parts for advanced signaling equipment.

Under the original agreement signed with the US Army Signal Corps at the end of 2004, Talla-Tech undertook to provide maintenance and spare parts for RT-1523A and RT1523D SINCGARS (Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio Systems) up to a value of $80 million over three years, of which Tadiran has provided service and orders worth $60 million to date. The US military has now boosted this to $125 million.

Tadiran recently announced a number of contract wins in Israel and other countries. Last week it reported that it received an order worth $20.5 million from the Ministry of Defence, as a follow-on to a previous order worth $19.6 million for the provision of radio systems to various IDF branches. It also recently announced that it had received approval to proceed with the final stage of an order for tactical equipment worth $42 million to a country in Asia.

Tadiran Communications VP marketing and incoming CEO Amos Weizman said today, We have seen a significant increase in Tadiran Communications' activity in the US, through its subsidiaries. The expansion of this contract is proof of the US customer's satisfaction with the product range offered by Tadiran and its subsidiaries, which contains some of the most advanced technology and know-how in the world.
