UH's Dr. Peter Bishop to Speak at NSTA Luncheon, Tuesday, June 27

--(Business Wire)-- Dr. Peter Bishop is the University of Houston's premier professor of things that are futuristic. In fact, he calls himself a "professional futurist," being the one who has overseen the Studies of the Future program at the Clear Lake campus for 20 years. Since the program's inception, the Clear Lake program has been the only one of its kind in the nation by which one can graduate with a Master of Science degree as a Professional Futurist. Since 1974, there have been approximately 300 graduates from the program suited for careers in trend tracking, business and product development, and strategic planning.

Dr. Bishop's topic on Tuesday, June 27, will be "Living and Working in an Intangible Society," which he describes as "the first industrial society to offer breakthrough productivity on purely intangible products and services."

"Ironically, the world will look much like it does today in 2040," Bishop says. "What won't be obvious, however, is the intelligence embedded in every material thing ... the virtual world of cyberspace humming in the invisible background. The world of 2040 will be like a movie set -- looking a lot like it does today, but under the surface, something entirely different."

The National Space & Technology Association (NSTA) is pleased to present Dr. Peter Bishop on Tuesday, June 27, at its monthly business luncheon at Fox Sports Grill, 5175 Westheimer at Sage, at the west end of the Galleria, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Lunch cost is $30 for non-members, $25 for members. Table exhibits: $50 (contact Karen Brown at [email protected]). For event sponsorship, contact R. D. Yoder of Houston Networking News ([email protected]).
