Former FCC Chairman Michael K. Powell to Keynote INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO Fall 2005

Respected Visionary to Address Leading VoIP Conference in Los Angeles this October

NORWALK, CT, (June 16, 2005) -- Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC®), announced today that Michael Powell, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) until March, 2005, has agreed to deliver the keynote address at their INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO Fall 2005, held October 24-27, 2005 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Mr. Powell’s address, which is open to all registered attendees, will take place Wednesday, October 26th at 10:00am PDT. Registration for the conference is now open at http://www.itexpo.com.

INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO, held since 1999, is the world’s best-attended VoIP trade show. More than 6,200 attendees packed the most recent show in Miami this past February. TMC projects total attendance in Los Angeles this October to exceed 7,500.

Michael K. Powell served as Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission at a time of revolutionary change in technology and communications. He was appointed by President Clinton in 1997 and was designated Chairman by President Bush in 2001.

As Chairman, Mr. Powell created the right regulatory conditions to stimulate the deployment of powerful technologies that put more power in the hands of the people. He clearly saw the importance of the rise of digital technologies and the impact they would have on our lives, from health care to education.

As Chairman, he focused on initiatives that encouraged market-driven solutions that promoted consumer interests and drove innovative approaches to getting broadband technology out to people—such as broadband over power lines, WiFi Hotspots, Cable broadband and DSL. These competitive alternatives expanded affordable broadband options to all Americans and helped narrow the digital divide.

From campaigning for the right to keep your phone number when switching wireless carriers, to fighting to block unwanted telemarketing calls with a Do-Not-Call list, to cautiously policing the airwaves of indecency, Mr. Powell put consumers on the forefront in this exciting and dynamic marketplace.

“I can think of no one who understands the impact of broadband telephony on the global economy better than Michael Powell,” said Rich Tehrani, TMC President and Conference Chairman for INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO.

“Under his watch we have witnessed a tremendous number of communications innovations and he presided over the FCC at a time when VoIP really began to change the competitive landscape of telecommunications. His influence will be felt throughout the FCC and will be perceptible in its decisions regarding VoIP and telecom for the foreseeable future. As a former Chairman of the FCC as the market shifted to packetized communications, Mr. Powell has unique insights about how VoIP shaped his tenure at the FCC and how it will change our future.” added Tehrani.

Registration for the conference and trade show is now open. Anyone interested may register by visiting http://www.itexpo.com.
