BAE SYSTEMS Awarded $58 Million U.S. Navy Contract

ROCKVILLE, Md. --(Business Wire)-- April 18, 2005 -- The U.S. Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWAR), Charleston, S.C., has awarded BAE Systems a $58 million technical services contract, which could reach $314 million if all options are exercised.

Under the contract, BAE Systems will provide evaluations, surveys, design, procurement, integration, installation, testing, and sustainment of security and Anti-Terrorism-Force Protection (ATFP) systems at government facilities worldwide. The effort, which replaces an existing contract, includes associated engineering, technical, and logistics services, and will also allow for the design and installation of new and future ATFP systems.

Work will be provided by BAE Systems employees in government facilities worldwide, and is expected to be completed by March 2006. The contract includes four one-year options.

"The award of this contract to BAE Systems provides a continuation of a long-standing relationship with our SPAWAR customer in Charleston," said Robert Murphy, president, BAE Systems Technology Solutions. "We look forward to continuing our physical and electronic security, automation, and law enforcement support to SPAWAR and its sponsors on this contract."

BAE Systems has been providing engineering and technical support to SPAWAR Systems Center, Charleston and its predecessor organizations since the late 1960's. The NAVSEA contracts centered on research and development support and security analysis and planning. The NEVELEX, Charleston contracts focused on installation design and system installations and upgrades.
