KUWAIT, Jul 15, 2013 (Kuwait Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Zain, the leading telecommunications operator in Kuwait, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The anniversary coincides with Kuwait's Ministry of Communication's (MoC) decision to introduce Mobile Number Portability (MNP) -- a step widely seen as a milestone for the telecom sector. In an exclusive interview with Kuwait Times, Zain's Chief Operating Officer (COO) Hani El-Kukhun said that the MoC's decision to introduce Mobile Number Portability (MNP) in Kuwait is a welcome development.



MOBILE NUMBER PORTABILITY "Mobile Number Portability (MNP) means that subscribers can keep their mobile phone numbers if they decide to change from one mobile service provider to another within Kuwait. With MNP, mobile phone users don't have to change their numbers every time they switch from one mobile service provider to another," El-Kukhun explained.

On the possible implications of the decision for the industry, El-Kukhun said, "It is a plus for Zain. This is a great opportunity for people to join the Zain family. Zain has always been leading on two fronts -- customer experience and technology innovations. We have been in support of this from the onset. Zain is the leading mobile operator in Kuwait serving more than 2.4 million customers currently. We always bring in the latest technology as we make sure that our customers get the best services, thus placing them on the zenith of the telecommunications revolutions".


"Zain treats customer complaints seriously and responds quickly as a courtesy to our customers. Zain always seeks to maximize customer satisfaction. We listen to our customers in order to meet their needs and attain their satisfaction. Zain is the first telecom company in Kuwait to launch 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution). The LTE network is part of integral modernization. With regular, high and 4G LTE speeds available, you will find Internet plans suitable for light or heavy usage," the COO explained, as he highlighted the importance of the ongoing digital revolution.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY With regards to its promotional programs during Ramadan, Zain's COO highlighted some of its community programs which include promotions and food distribution. "It is part of our commitment and responsibility to present best practice and lead by example. Not only do we focus on providing our customers and partners with excellent services, we also complete our promise of practicing responsible business through sustainable responsibility within these core areas -- workplace, marketplace, community and the environment," El-Kukhun stressed.

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION Customer satisfaction is an integral part of Zain's everyday business. "To ensure that our customers get a unified response, Zain branch, franchise, customer care and distributor employees receive the same basic product and services training. In addition, all Zain marketing material and the websites are there to answer all questions and provide you with the information that you require. Zain's contact center is a 24-hour operation that is dedicated to customers and their concerns," said El-Kukhun.

Aimed at enhancing customer satisfaction, El-Kukhun said that Zain has a total of 76 branches across Kuwait. "Our intent is to keep our customer happy. The customer-oriented strategy is an essential part of its core business as we seek to ensure customer satisfaction and a consistent enjoyable experience. This we do by carrying out regular quality checks at all branches, franchises, contact centers and distributors. Zain aims to maintain the same treatment, quality of service and information for its customers' satisfaction," he added.

30TH ANNIVERSARY Zain's 30th anniversary was on the 22nd of June. "To celebrate this special day, Zain offered free calls within the Zain family all though that day (Saturday 22 June). The offer resulted in an overwhelming success whereby the company's network usage increased by 37% on Saturday 22nd over the previous day. In addition, it introduced a range of specially tailored offers with smartphones and 4G LTE Internet subscriptions that will be available all year long," Zain COO said. Zain's customers are invited to join the celebrations and take advantage of the endless offers.

INTERNET ROAMING RATES With regards to internet roaming, El-Kukhun said that Zain has recently introduced competitive Internet roaming rates to customers travelling to the UK and GCC countries. "These rates allow customers to surf the Internet and connect with loved ones at affordable rates, while being in total control of their roaming costs. As a leading telecommunications company Zain understands the importance of Internet services to its customers' daily lives, particularly when travelling abroad. Thus the company is constantly striving to develop value-added services that meet and exceed customer expectations".

ZAIN'S PROMOTIONAL OFFERS Other promotional offers include; A free LTE enabled iPad with nationwide 4G LTE Internet subscription for KD 22 per month; 4G LTE Internet services on Hotspot, router, or eGo devices that are LTE compatible with 35GB Internet capacity for KD 1 for the first 3 months, then KD 19 for the remaining months; A smartphone devices with Zain prepaid lines whereby customers can enjoy free 500 MB Internet capacity per month etc.
