Unisys Chairman and CEO Peter Altabef Recognized with Federal 100 Award for Co-leading Presidential Advisory Committee Initiative for a Safer and More Secure Internet

RESTON, Va. and BLUE BELL, Pa., Feb. 11, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced that Unisys Chairman and CEO Peter Altabef has been named as a recipient of the 2019 Federal 100 Award for government and industry leaders who have made outstanding contributions to U.S. federal government IT.

To be presented by Federal Computer Week at a gala event on March 28 in Washington, D.C., the Federal 100 Awards honor government, industry and academic leaders who have played pivotal roles affecting how the federal government acquires, develops and manages IT. Recipients are people who are considered to have gone above and beyond their daily responsibilities in making a difference in the way technology has transformed government.

Altabef, who was appointed to the President's National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC) in 2016, was recognized for his role in co-leading a transformational NSTAC initiative – the Cybersecurity Moonshot. Similar in spirit to the one once announced by President Kennedy for "landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to the Earth" by the end of the 1960s, the Cybersecurity Moonshot focused on developing a comprehensive, "whole-of-nation" vision for a safer and more secure internet. The report includes a roadmap that spans six strategic "pillars" – technology, education, ecosystem, behavioral, privacy and policy – and was delivered to the White House on November 14, 2018.

"I am truly honored to have been selectedto receive this recognition for my work on behalf of the NSTAC Cybersecurity Moonshot initiative," said Altabef. "I would like to acknowledge Mark McLaughlin, the initiative's co-chair with whom I worked very closely, and all those who collaborated on this very important work."

Founded in 1982 by President Reagan and an act of Congress, NSTAC comprises senior executives from leading companies in industries including telecommunications, network services, information technology, finance and aerospace. The committee advises the U.S. government on a wide range of policy and technical issues relating to five key themes: strengthening national security; enhancing cybersecurity; maintaining the global communications infrastructure; assuring communications for disaster response; and addressing critical infrastructure interdependencies and dependencies.
