STG Aerospace: Malmo Aviation makes fleet-wide WEPPS order

Dec 16, 2009 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- STG Aerospace has received its first Wireless Emergency Primary Power System (WEPPS) order from Swedish airline Malmo Aviation.

Malmo, the largest operator flying out of Stockholm-Bromma Airport, has placed an order for the whole of its fleet of AVRO RJ 100 jet aircraft.

Vice President Technical Operation at Malmo Aviation, Anders Hansson, says the company has been interested in the system for some time. "We have invested in WEPPS for all our aircraft to make the most of the cost savings the system offers. The maintenance free aspects of WEPPS make it an ideal solution at a time when we're trying to reduce operating costs." WEPPS integrates new operating protocols with wireless communication, real-time MEL diagnostics, and solid-state electronics for managing emergency lighting systems, and uses TSO approved 'fit-for-life' non-rechargeable batteries, to replace conventional, and potentially toxic NiCd battery/charger packs - reducing operating costs by eliminating the emergency lighting system's entire maintenance schedule.
