StatVideo's EchoBox Supports Tele-Echocardiography Training of Indian Physicians at ASE Sponsored Training Event.

ANDOVER, Mass. --(Business Wire)--

At Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon, India, five EchoBox devices were connected to five GE Vivid ultrasound systems, streaming live echo images over the WEB to experienced sonographers located in the US. The sonographers were members of the American Society of Echocardiography, and were able to view the images in real-time as they were being scanned. This novel approach enabled remote imaging training for twenty Indian physicians during live patient examinations.

"This educational activity sets a benchmark in delivering innovative Internet-based tele-consultation and tele-education programs to physicians. The physicians registered for a novel training module: ASE-VISION (Value of Interactive Scanning for Improving Outcome of New Learners). This program ushers newer trainig possibilities in the integration of tele-echocardiography with activities that range from real-time online assessments, long distance consultations, information sharing and education of physicians in remote areas of the world." Partho Sengupta MD FASE, Member ASE Board of Directors

"The bigger problem in India is that many of the physicians performing echocardiography don't have any means to verify their findings, and as a result, inaccurate diagnosis and inappropriate treatment are common problems. EchoBox is a great solution to overcome this challenge and it will allow the physicians to get instant expert advice from cardiac centers across the globe." Manish Bansal MD FASE, consultant cardiologist, Medanta Hospital, India

"Many US-based labs -including Duke- are using the EchoBox as a way to provide expert guidance between sonographers dealing with a particularly tough case (especially Adult CHD patients) and a physician. However this was the first time that such inexpensive, high quality, remote, and secure connections were used solely to teach image optimization to a group of physicians on the other side of the world just like you were standing next to them." David Adams, RDCS FASE, Duke University

"The EchoBox system worked just fine. The image quality was acceptable for a live feed from India thousands of miles away, and I was able to accurately correct views and discuss anatomy verbally as I watched the live feed." Brad Roberts, RDCS FASE, Baylor College of Medicine

"StatVideo was honored to be chosen to participate in this event, and we are pleased to donate an EchoBox to Medanta Hospital for use in a remote echo tele-consultation service in India." Jim Rueter, Chief Technical Officer, StatVideo LLC
