Run From the Front-Line in Afghanistan, New Social Site Celebstir.com Helps Aspiring Talent Network with Industry Experts and Highlights Their Talents

WOODBURY, Minn., Jan. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Celebstir.com (http://www.celebstir.com), a social media website specially designed to help boost careers in modeling, the arts, athletics, journalism and more, will officially launch on January 3, 2013 after a 5 month beta testing period. The website gives its members the opportunity to showcase their talent, and also network, with various individuals. The site also allows for video chats with celebrities for inspiration and entertainment purposes.

Site members can register and maintain profiles at no cost as they market themselves by uploading audio, video and image files to show other site members why they deserve to be known. "A high school athlete could upload season highlights, an aspiring actor could upload a recreation of their favorite movie, or a journalism student can upload a demo broadcasting the news, for example," explained Aaron Carter, president of Celebstir. "Budding talent will collect 'Stirs,' which are similar to a 'Like.' If you like what you see, you click the 'Stir Me' button on that person's profile. The more Stirs members have, the more likely they are to be featured on the site's front page so that they garner even more attention." In order to encourage members to keep their content fresh and select only their best work, the site only allows 10 audio, 10 video and 10 image files at a time. "This way, you won't overwhelm the viewer," said Antonio Phillips, vice president of Celebstir. "Unlike other sites, we don't own or claim rights to any of your content." Celebstir also schedules video chats with celebrities, people in the news, and fellow members on the site. "During one chat, an aspiring swimmer asked Olympic gold medalist Conor Dwyer how to get a better time in the pool," said Phillips. In addition to asking advice and networking, Fans can simply chat with the celebrity. On the official site launch date, January 3, the video chat will feature Renee Graziano and Karen Gravano, stars of VH1's "Mob Wives." Aspiring performers can update their profile's calendar and post status updates so that fans and friends know what they have going on. Members can also link with and use their Facebook and Twitter accounts through Celebstir.

The "My Store" feature allows both celebrities and aspiring talent alike to sell items to their fans. For example, an aspiring artist can sell paintings or a celebrity can sell their new book. Fans will receive store updates along with status updates. "If you buy an item from a celebrity, you will have the option to purchase a certificate saying you bought the item from the celebrity via Celebstir," said Phillips.

Carter and Philips are military veterans currently working in Afghanistan. They work alongside the United States Army as government contractors and run the site in addition to their other responsibilities. Celebstir is supported by a small Minnesota based staff, Carter's home state.

"Many people have tremendous talent, but remain unknown," Carter said. "I wanted to create a platform to help those people market themselves. Antonio was on board immediately because he believed in a social platform that would give talented people a networking tool, connecting photographers with models, athletes with coaches and recruiters, musicians with producers, etc. Other social sites are designed for casual interaction and only happen to have features to help creative individuals. We are a site designed for creative people yet provide an entertaining atmosphere for all users."
