MokaFive receives patent for client-side desktop virtualization software

Nov 27, 2012 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- MokaFive, a provider of desktop virtualization solutions, has been granted its sixth US patent on technology related to its client-side desktop virtualization software.

The new 'Sharing Live Appliances' US patent 8,266,576, covers key areas of publishing, subscribing, updating and playing live appliances or virtual machines. It builds upon the original filings made by the founders of MokaFive, who initially developed the technology as part of a Stanford University project. MokaFive has an additional 18 patents pending on related technologies, the company said.

"With the addition of this new patent to our portfolio, MokaFive holds much of the key intellectual property around the client-side or local-execution model of desktop virtualization," said John Whaley, co-founder and CTO, MokaFive. "No other company comes close." MokaFive is a virtualization solution that allows IT to centrally manage, update, and secure an entire distributed desktop environment from a single console, the company added.
