Library of Congress Rare Books & Special Collections Division Picks LAC Federal Services to Digitize Card CatalogROCKVILLE, Md., July 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- LAC Group, a provider of mission-critical outsourced library, information, and knowledge management services for the U.S. government, has been awarded a contract to convert over 500,000 catalog cards into online records from the Library of Congress Rare Books and Special Collections Division. While the Library of Congress online catalog contains over 17 million entries, the Rare Books & Special Collections Division still has many assets that are only findable using paper cards. Due to this large backlog, the Library needed detailed-oriented cataloging librarians with advanced library degrees to review the cards and create digital bibliographic, holding and item records.
