Lenovo Launches Tower ThinkServer

Nov 09, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Lenovo announced the availability of ThinkServer TD330, designed to handle behind-the-scenes IT tasks for small-and-medium-sized organizations - from schools deploying virtual desktop sessions or blackboard applications, to retail deployments, to distributed environments like banks with multiple locations.

Supporting up to 16 cores based on the Intel Xeon E5-2400 processor family, the Company said the TD330 does the heavy-lifting, running line-of-business applications that support business processing and collaborative efforts.

ThinkServer TD330 was introduced by Lenovo's new Enterprise Product Group, a dedicated business unit that will expand the Company's server, storage, networking and software offerings. It will be led by Roy Guillen, vice president and general manager, Enterprise Product Group, Lenovo.

"We've placed expanded emphasis on building our server portfolio this year, introducing products that meet the needs of all our customers - from enterprise customers to small businesses," said Guillen. "The ThinkServer TD330 meets the need of an organization that demands flawless dual socket performance in a flexible, scalable tower solution, and values the reliability and sturdiness that ThinkServer products are known for." Lenovo said the ThinkServer TD330 is loaded with such standard features as onboard RAID, onboard diagnostics, hot swap support and web enabled remote management. The ThinkServer TD330 offers system configurations, allowing organizations to tailor the server to their exact needs. The TD330 also features scalability - an organization with basic needs can pare back the options selected and still have processing capability and room to grow in the future. The TD330 fits into a hybrid environment, designed with industry standard IPMI 2.0-compliant protocols and interfaces, allowing it to be integrated without sacrificing any existing IT investments.

Lenovo noted that its ThinkServer TD330 is based on the Intel Xeon E5-2400 processor family. It features up to 192GB of memory, a variety of hard drive and network card choices, and Raid options with battery backup and cache.

The TD330 is more than simply a tower - with Energy Star compliant models and low voltage processor and memory choices, the TD330 delivers energy savings.

Every ThinkServer TD330 features EasyStartup, EasyUpdate and EasyManage. This suite of software tools allows users to setup, configure and manage the server. ThinkServer EasyStartup, an assistant that supports the process of installing and configuring the server, allows an organization to bring online a number of servers of the same model. It also allows organizations to keep existing business data during the installation process, saving time and minimizing the risk of the loss of critical business data. After the installation process, ThinkServer EasyManage server monitoring and management tools help to maintain performance. EasyManage is designed to affect frequent management issues for IT administrators. For customers who require remote manageability tools, the ThinkServer TD330 also offers a management module with iKVM, allowing IT staff to monitor and control the server from any location.

The TD330 is supported by a services portfolio designed for ThinkServer products, including warranty support upgradeable to four hour onsite 24x7 response and the ability to deploy custom Windows imaging and BIOS settings at the Lenovo factory.

Lenovo is a $US30 billion personal technology company.
