iotum, JAJAH Announce Strategic Alliance

OTTAWA & MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- iotum and JAJAH, two of the brightest lights in the emerging world of Voice 2.0 and New Presence, today announced a strategic alliance to deliver new capabilities to mobile users and further their shared vision of the future for Internet telephony and mobility.

As a first step, iotum and JAJAH are leveraging their expertise to offer BlackBerry(R) users the power of iotum's Talk-Now application for presence-enabled call management combined with JAJAH's low rates for calling anywhere in the world.

"We saw a clear opportunity to enhance the experience for mobile users by partnering with JAJAH," said iotum CEO Alec Saunders. "Initially, our collaboration means that iotum Talk-Now users will have one-click access to JAJAH for all their contacts. In the future, iotum will release other 'New Presence'-enabled applications in conjunction with JAJAH, such as PIN-less, mobile conferencing."

Introduced earlier this year, Talk-Now is a revolutionary "New Presence" application for BlackBerry devices that lets users see at a glance who's available to talk, and share their availability with contacts of their choosing. By combining the capabilities of a to-do list and a buddy list, Talk-Now eliminates phone tag by allowing users to know when the people they need to speak with are available and to see who is waiting to speak with them.

"iotum Talk-Now will allow us to offer our mobile enterprise customers a unique, innovative solution," said JAJAH co-founder Roman Scharf. "With iotum Talk-Now, workgroups using BlackBerrys now have a seamless JAJAH calling experience. They can check the availability of their team members directly from their screens, and then make low-cost global calls with a single click."

"Iotum's Talk-Now provides a unique presence application today. It allows users to deliver personalized presence to each of their contacts," said IDC Research Manager Will Stofega. "By combining Talk-Now and JAJAH, the two companies have created the world's premier presence-driven calling network."

JAJAH launched its global web-activated telephony in March 2006, offering free or low-cost phone calls from regular phones. The service requires no headset, equipment, contract or monthly fee, and registration is free. JAJAH recently announced it has acquired 2 million registered users in its first year of business.

"Talk-Now helps people complete more telephone calls, cuts down on voice-mails and helps them avoid telephone tag," said iotum's Saunders. "The beauty of our alliance with JAJAH is that we're giving users a higher likelihood of completing their calls and at prices that are among the most attractive available anywhere -- especially in Europe. Together, iotum and JAJAH increase the productivity of our customers' teams, while also helping them to manage their telephony costs."

iotum and JAJAH are both proud members of the 2007 "Pulver 100," a list of the top privately held growth companies in the converged worlds of media, Internet, communications and entertainment. Also, both iotum and JAJAH have been named to VoIPNews' list of "25 Most Interesting VoIP Startups" for 2007.
