Guian New Area Optimizes Huaxi Project, Realizes US$4.65 Billion In Local Investment


GUIYANG, China, March 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Guian New Area, a national-level economic zone in China's southwestern Guizhou Province, has launched the Huaxi University Town project to promote local innovation and entrepreneurship, which has realized US$4.65 billion in local investments.

Huaxi University Town will have a total area of 683 square feet. Nine universities have already settled in the town, which plans to house a total of twelve. The number of teachers and students in the town has already reached 150,000. In addition, backbone transportation networks currently cover an area of 9.65 square miles, and the town has witnessed US$4.65 billion worth of investment already made.

As part of a five-year blueprint, Huaxi University Town will explore a growth model that is based on the synergies between infrastructure, talent pools, big data and big ideas. Driven by innovation, Huaxi University Town will focus on setting up R&D centers, labs, and scientific institutes, as well as businesses in big data and healthcare.

Huaxi University Town was launched by Guian New Area to help fresh talents pve their career path and speed up the promoting of local small enterprises and innovative start-ups with full support. Huaxi University Town aims to form a vibrant ecosystem around universities, companies and the government to foster innovation and entrepreneurship.



Guian New Area won government approval to set up an innovation and entrepreneurship park in May, 2016, one of the first zones in the country to be authorized. The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park is composed of two buildings with total construction area of about 430,556 square feet.

Nine intermediary service firms and six big data companies have settled in Building A, which has adopted a business pattern of integrating big data with services, cultural and creative industries, education, management and analysis. In Building B, the second and third floor is home to the university town's incubator base, which has attracted over 60 startups, while the fourth and fifth floors have lured five companies that integrate big data with healthcare.


Under the Huaxi project, promising startups have established partnerships and cooperation agreements with the local government and institutions of higher education.
