GENBAND Participates in SIPconnect-IT 2012 to Demonstrate SIP Connect 1.1 Interoperability for SIP Trunking

FRISCO, Texas --(Business Wire)--

GENBAND, a leading developer of IP infrastructure and application solutions, today announced its participation in SIP Forum's (News - Alert) SIPconnect-IT 2012. Scheduled for Dec. 3-7, at the University of New Hampshire Interoperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) in Durham, New Hampshire, SIPconnect-IT 2012 provides the global telecom community the opportunity to test for interoperability with the SIPconnect 1.1 specification for SIP Trunking in a live network environment. GENBAND (News - Alert) is participating in the event with the S3™ Session Border Controller and A2™ Communications Application Server.

"SIPconnect-IT is an ideal forum to demonstrate our industry-leading SIP Trunking capabilities on the GENBAND SBC and Application Server platforms while further cementing our commitment to the latest open standards and interoperability specifications," said B.G. Kumar, President of the Multimedia Business Unit for GENBAND. "As enterprises of all sizes, including government organizations, universities and contact centers, look to leverage their investments and converge voice and data networks, GENBAND's continued investment in SIP Trunking and Unified Multimedia Communications (UC) architecture is central to enabling multimedia communications across any mobile phone, tablet, desktop computer or office phone."

GENBAND's intelligent S3 Session Border Controller simplifies the deployment of SIP-based services by securely managing, interoperating, and controlling real-time voice and multimedia sessions at the network edge. It is a proven leader across a wide spectrum of applications including IP Interconnect, IPX, Enterprise Unified Communications, SIP Business Trunking, Residential Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Voice Over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) and the Rich Communications Suite (RCS) applications.

The market-leading A2 Communications Application Server will be tested alongside the S3 Session Border Controller, and is the only application server that has fully integrated multimedia desktop and mobile applications for voice, video, conferencing, instant messaging, voice and visual messaging, presence, collaboration and mobility. The A2 Communications Application Server is an IP-based application server providing VoLTE and RCS Unified Multimedia Communications for both residential and business deployments.

"SIPconnect-IT 2012 marks an important step in galvanizing the industry toward universal adoption of and compliance with the SIPconnect 1.1 specification," said Marc Robins (News - Alert), SIP Forum President and Managing Director. "It will give the IP communications engineering community an opportunity to put the theory and ideals of SIPconnect 1.1 into action and begin the hard work of identifying and ultimately resolving key internetworking issues related to SIP Trunking."

The newly developed SIPconnect 1.1 Interoperability Test Plan focuses on testing interoperability between different vendor products and network elements involved in SIP Trunking services. Testing procedures will aim to verify interoperability between an Enterprise SIP-PBX (News - Alert) and a Service Provider network SIP Signaling Entity (SP-SSE).
