Fast and Reliable Uniform Commercial Code Searches Now Available for Purchase on West Virginia Secretary of State Website


The West Virginia Secretary of State's Office has released a new feature for its existing Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) Online Filing and Search System that enables customers to quickly and conveniently complete orders for UCC searches and download the documents directly to their computer at https://apps.wv.gov/SOS/UCC.

The new and improved search feature allows users to:

  • Efficiently search for documents by filing name or number with immediate search results
  • Conveniently and securely pay with credit card or electronic check and receive payment and order confirmation
  • Instantly download and print copies of certified and non-certified searches
  • Quickly validate certified search certificates

The system also integrates with the Secretary of State's Office live online interactive chat. The live chat service allows users to chat one on one with a UCC filing and search specialist and is available every business day from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

"We are pleased to offer the new online search order feature to help create efficiencies for our customers," said Penney Barker, Business and Licensing Director. "The new search feature enables businesses that depend on Uniform Commercial Code filing information to enjoy the convenience of ordering lien certifications online and receiving immediate confirmation and search results, day or night with no waiting."



The West Virginia Secretary of State's Office is the central filing office for certain financing statements provided for under the Uniform Commercial Code and processes approximately 25,000 UCC financing statements annually.
