Eye Center of North Florida Announces Winner of Their 13th Annual LASIK Hero Campaign

The Eye Center of North Florida (ECNF) is thrilled to announce Cody Hill, a dedicated Panama City Beach Firefighter, as the winner of their 13th annual LASIK Hero campaign. With nine years of service as a firefighter, Cody is on the brink of a glasses-free future. This beloved tradition, aimed at honoring and giving back to our courageous local heroes, provides free LASIK and cataract surgeries to deserving Bay County Firefighters, Police Officers, Nurses, and active members of local military branches.

Reflecting on his journey, Cody Hill, the 2023 Eye Center of North Florida LASIK Hero winner, shared, "I vividly remember getting glasses for the first time in fourth grade. The details I could suddenly see were astonishing. With LASIK surgery, I can now move freely without the burden of glasses. Dr. Enfield's generosity in providing this procedure is an incredible gift, and I look forward to serving Bay County's residents with this newfound vision!"

While on duty, Cody depended heavily on his contacts, sometimes wearing them for up to 48 hours. Unfortunately, ther were instances when his contacts became displaced, adversely affecting his performance. Fueled by a commitment to excel as a firefighter, Cody is now liberated from the constraints of impaired vision thanks to his LASIK surgery at the Eye Center of North Florida. He looks forward to serving the people of Bay County glasses-free!

"Empowering individuals with clear vision is not just my profession; it's a privilege. Witnessing the transformative impact of LASIK surgery on heroes like Cody Hill is a testament to the life-changing nature of our work," said Dr. David "Ben" Enfield, an Ophthalmologist and refractive surgeon for The Eye Center of North Florida and a former sergeant and field surgeon for the Army National Guard. "As a surgeon at The Eye Center of North Florida, I am grateful to play a part in enhancing lives, and Cody's journey reaffirms the profound difference advanced vision care can make in the pursuit of excellence and service."

Since its inception, the LASIK Hero campaign has touched the lives of numerous heroes in our community, offering them the gift of improved vision. The campaign not only underscores ECNF's commitment to vision care but also their dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of those who selflessly serve our community.

The campaign ran from October 1 to November 1 of the year.
