BASELAYER® Is Now IE Mission Critical

Modular data center market leader BASELAYER® now has a new name - IE Mission Critical. The rebranding of BASELAYER®, which Intermountain Electronics (IE) acquired early last year, is effective as of early May and coincides with the launch of IE's updated brand and new website, ie-corp.com.

In streamlining these brands, customers will get the best of both worlds: BASELAYER's design and operator expertise in the world of modular data centers and IE's ability to deliver critical infrastructure solutions with industry leading speed and scalability. With IE Mission Critical, clients can expect custom-engineered, modular solutions including electrical, mechanical and IT data center systems. This also includes other areas of a turnkey build including switchgear, UPS and battery systems, cooling systems and all-in-one modules.

Since IE's acquisition of BASELAYER® - now IE Mission Critical - IE has seen exceptional increase in market adoption due to these complementary strengths of scale and expertise. In 2020, the company saw a 15 percent increase in overall growth, with similar trends projected for 2021. It also grew its IE Mission Critical customer base by 150 percent, providing clients wth products ranging from turnkey Edge solutions to power modules for some of the world's largest colocation providers - even becoming an approved supplier to one of the world's largest hyperscale clients.

One such new customer is Foxconn Technology Group (News - Alert). "Our team is excited to work with IE as we bring to market Foxconn's Industrial Internet (Fii) in the U.S.," says Foxconn Industrial Internet in a formal statement. "Whether it is a Smart Factory or an Intelligent Healthcare deployment, Industry 4.0 applications require data center infrastructure which supports 24/7 operations. We look forward to the continued relationship with IE as we add services for our growing customer base across the US market."

Delivering Infrastructure Growth through Innovation, Experience, and Scale

IE has delivered critical infrastructure for over 35 years in verticals including Power & Utilities, Mining, and Oil & Gas. With IE Mission Critical under its umbrella, IE now has more than 100 Fortune 500 customers spanning three continents and has deployed more than 1,500 modular units totaling 500+ MWs. Moving forward, IE Mission Critical is committed to continued product development to ensure its solutions meet the current and future needs of customers and plans to continue as a top provider in the modular data center industry. This includes focus on three key areas for mission critical customers:

  • Agility - IE's in-house capabilities allow for the flexibility to quickly adapt to whatever changes emerge during a customer's modular or traditional IT infrastructure project, all while keeping costs down.
  • Expertise - With over 35 years of experience building critical infrastructure, IE knows what it takes to get the job done by focusing on customer engagement throughout the entire project lifecycle. Its proven track record ensures teams know the right questions to ask to guide a project-no matter how complex-to a successful finish.
  • Scalability - IE also offers a national footprint, with facilities across the U.S., to manufacture and distribute its solutions. As a result, customers can build and scale their critical infrastructure without the delays that might plague an international supply chain.

Bobby Houston, IE Vice Chairman and Director, Mission Critical:

"In 2020, we were excited to see growth and customer adoption in our Mission Critical business unit both in terms of revenue and new logos. As part of our strategic plan after the acquisition of BASELAYER, we are now integrating under one group called IE Mission Critical with the goal of establishing ourselves as the market leader in data center infrastructure manufacturing. We look forward to adding thought leadership and sharing more customer success stories in 2021."
