Alfresco Announces OEM Partnership with FileMark; Alfresco and FileMark Deliver Transactional Document Processing
LONDON --(Business Wire)-- June 19, 2006 -- Alfresco Software Inc., the first provider of an open source enterprise content management solution, today announced its partnership with FileMark, a leading provider of document processing, archiving and records management solutions.
Alfresco is trailblazing a completely open Enterprise Content Management solution (ECM) based on industry standards. The partnership with FileMark gives Alfresco users a completely integrated solution to include real-time document imaging, workflow, records management and report archiving. FileMark customers benefit from an open, standards-based SOA document management solution that is easy to deployment and offers enhanced functionality at a significantly lower cost. The open source-based solutions offered by Alfresco and FileMark enables customers to rollout projects cost-effectively and more quickly without any proprietary vendor 'lock-in'.
"The combined expertise of FileMark and Alfresco offers customers an alternative to proprietary ECM solutions, offering a complete package that works out-of-the box to deliver a flexible and dynamic solution to solve their document management requirements," said William Zastrow, president and CEO of FileMark. "High-cost proprietary ECM systems from the 1990's are not what we or our customers need. ECM is entering a new age with open source and open standards such as JSR-170, JSR-168 and web services. FileMark chose Alfresco because of its best-of-breed repository."
"Our use of open standards and adoption of a service-oriented architecture makes Alfresco an ideal de-facto standard for embedding in imaging, collaboration and records management solutions as well as turnkey ECM applications," said John Powell, CEO of Alfresco, Inc. "Previously OEMs had the choice of an expensive proprietary system or developing their own ECM repository. Neither was economically attractive, so Alfresco fills that gap. FileMark accelerates Alfresco's OEM momentum with organizations building content rich applications that require an open, robust and scalable ECM without the cost and risk of proprietary vendor lock-in."
