StartupCamp5 Returns to ITEXPO East in Miami, Florida on February 2

Legendary Industry Entrepreneur Sir Terry Matthews (News - Alert) Announced as Keynote Speaker; Early-Stage Companies Vie for Investment

Norwalk, CT, December 6, 2011— TMC and EMBRASE Business Consulting announced that the fifth installment of StartupCamp Comms will occur at ITEXPO (News - Alert) East, February 1-3, at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

StartupCamp Comms was launched in Miami back in early 2010 and has grown into a premiere ITEXPO event, packing in crowds of over 600 industry influencers, potential investors, media, and bloggers. Outside of a forum for early-stage entrepreneurs to pitch their communications products or services, StartupCamp is widely recognized for attracting unique and rare speaking appearances from the likes Craig Walker (founder of Google (News - Alert) Voice), Bob Metcalfe (inventor of the Ethernet), and now Sir Terry Matthews.

Matthews is a world-renowned entrepreneur who has founded or funded over 80 companies since 1972, including Newbridge Networks and Mitel (News - Alert). Matthews will open the event at 4:45PM on February 2.

Beyond its highly inspirational, educational and interactive keynotes, StartupCamp’s draw is its fast-paced, “ready, set, pitch” format that offers five selected early-stage companies a forum to validate their pitches in real time, and for discerning panelists and audiences the opportunity to see what’s next and voice their opinions – positive or not.

“Sir Terry Matthews is a name synonymous with entrepreneurialism in our industry; his track record has little parallel and when he speaks publically, I’m told he holds little back. We could not be happier to have Sir Terry kicking off StartupCamp5”, said StartupCamp Comms co-founder, Larry Lisser.

Companies developing offerings that enable or are enabled by communications technologies such as voice, SMS and video, that are under three years old and are angel or privately funded, should apply for a ‘pitch slot’.

Registration for StartupCamp and ITEXPO is now open. Media inquiries should be directed to Todd Keefe at For Immediate Release PR. Companies interested in sponsoring StartupCamp, and showcasing their technology innovations to the audience, should contact TMC’s (News - Alert) Joe Fabiano at 203-852-6800 x132.
