VigLink Unveils LinkWeaver, Content Monetization Technology for Website Publishers

By Tammy Wolf, TMCnet Web Editor

If you’ve ever been scouring a website and have been intrigued by a product or service available on the page, most likely you’ve had to venture away from the site to search elsewhere. Now, one content monetization company has launched a technology that will instantly connect readers to product and service information directly within the content.

The leader in next-generation content monetization for website publishers, VigLink has unveiled today LinkWeaver technology that detects product and merchant reactions within website content and automatically creates a custom set of links embedded within each page.

With LinkWeaver technology, which already powers VigLink’s link insertion solution, readers will now be rewarded with easier access to information they want at that moment, while also granting publishers another layer for revenue.

“Historically, when website content compelled a reader to take an action to buy or learn more about a product they read about, they left the website and started a time-consuming search process,” said Oliver Roup, founder and CEO of VigLink, a Google (News - Alert) Ventures-backed company.  “The publisher also lost the ability to monetize the reader’s action.  LinkWeaver harnesses the reader’s intent that develops while reading content and creates a connection between the reader and the buying opportunities he or she is seeking.  This powerful solution aligns with reader’s growing expectations for how pages should behave and delivers website publishers a substantial new revenue stream.”

By augmenting VigLink’s automated link affiliation, LinkWeaver provides a “dual approach” to monetizing content for a variety of website publishers, producing tightly integrated content into the service and granting another revenue source for website publishers in addition to their text and display ads.

For one website publisher, VigLink has proven effective in boosting revenue, which should certainly come handy for the the approaching holiday season.

“We’ve been using VigLink’s automated link affiliation for some time with great success,” said David Bott, founder of AVSForum.com, a discussion forum revolving around movies. “Recently, we activated link insertion and saw our VigLink revenue increase by nearly 40 percent. With the holiday shopping season fast approaching, the service is an important addition to our current monetization efforts.  It is particularly appealing that LinkWeaver enhances a reader’s experience on the site in a remarkably unobtrusive way.”
