Why is there a growing attention on the use of technology in education?

Technology evolves rapidly in all spheres of human life, and education is also affected by it. New generations should enter an adult world being fully prepared for living in a modern information space, solving problems and making decisions conditioned by our progressive age. Traditional learning methods became ineffective and should be replaced by innovative technologies. Proceed reading to find out about the most important educational trends and perspectives.

The labor market dictates its rules

Just imagine that young people write essays by hand for several years, conduct all calculations, pass tests using a sheet of paper and not computer programs. What will they face when entering the labor market? All employees are sure to ask them about computer proficiency, at least confident using Word, Excel, Power Point, the most popular browsers.

Nobody is interested in excuses like “I was not taught to do it at a university.” As a result, a young person will have to form necessary skills alone, waste additional time and efforts on it, and probably ask “What have I been doing for 5 years?”

It is better using technology than fighting it

The digitalization process is at full speed. Students meet all new trends with delight and enthusiasm, use smartphones, laptops and tablets, play video games and communicate in social networks. Whether professors like it or not, young people will bring these devices to colleges and universities. Why not use them for a good purpose? There are many electronic tools which may simplify an educational process.

When asking students to leave gadgets at home, professors provoke a kind of conflict, devoid learners of things which they like so much. As a result, young people miss lectures and seminars, order custom papers from an assignment writing service instead of writing them self-handedly, in short, avoid learning by any means possible.

It is much reasonable for representatives of an older generation to seek mutual understanding and show that they are ready to create comfortable conditions for students.

Technology makes education more demonstrative

Not all people have a lively imagination. When cinematography has emerged, many have abandoned books in pursuit of demonstrativeness and vivid impressions. The same applies to an educational literature. Some things should better be shown than explained.

Professors increasingly use educational videos and multimedia presentations. Such approach saves time because one does not need to read about, for example, how a sea-going ship is equipped.  It is enough to look at a photo. Students’ engagement growths. They attend lectures more willingly and listen to professors attentively.

One of the most promising innovational trends is using virtual reality headsets, different stimulators and models allowing to gain a practical experience without leaving a classroom, risking human health and financial resources. For example, architects can design buildings without using a single brick. Virtual images are so realistic that students repeat the same experiments in real life without much difficulty.

Availability of information

When a student came home from a university several decades ago, the only information source one had was a textbook. If a person faced a challenging assignment and lacked data for its performing, it was necessary to wait until the next day to consult a professor or groupmates, visit a library. But what if it was the last evening before an important exam or submitting a term paper? Then a student was doomed to failure and receiving a bad mark.

Everything is much easier today. Information on any topic may be quickly found by entering keywords in a search engine. A few seconds are enough to get access to numerous electronic encyclopedias, textbooks and scientific articles. Social networks exist not only for entertainment but also discussing tricky homework with peers. There are also many specialized forums for all possible majors.

Or one can find a good UK assignment writing service. This market does not stop growing since an advent of the Internet, so there are many worthy companies which solve students’ educational problems quickly and efficiently.

Professors became more responsive and attentive to extracurricular activities of learners. They answer questions and accept academic papers by mail, use cloud-based services, communicate closely with particularly active students, supply them with additional information sources.

Remote education

It seemed earlier that if a person did not receive higher education right after school, one will never have such an opportunity again, because there always will be work and family affairs in life, and a standard 9-hour office schedule is incompatible with lectures and seminars which, as a rule, are held in the morning.

Emergence of numerous online courses changed the situation dramatically. Now people do not need to sacrifice their office time because most distant programs allow learning whenever one wants.

Remote education is very convenient for people from rural areas. It is hard for a student to move to a big city and rent an apartment, especially if one does not receive a scholarship. But having entered a prestigious university online, one may receive a diploma without any losses.

All the above arguments show that technology and education are inextricably linked. It is impossible to build the better future if professors live in the past and do not want to improve their work. It is worth understanding that changes are beneficial for all participants in an educational process and implementing them wherever possible.
