The latest development in technology to combat baldness

Hair loss is a common problem affecting both men and women. Yet, it is a more common problem for men. So, for as long as men have been going bald, specialists have tried to find the best ways to keep their hair on. Hair transplant surgery has become increasingly popular and the results have become better than ever before due to the technological advancements that have improved patient outcomes. Top aesthetic surgeons have collaborated with technology specialists to develop tech innovations that will combat the problem of baldness.

According to a study published by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, hair transplantation is an increasingly popular treatment for hair loss as the number of procedures worldwide has increased by 76% since 2006. Also, over 50% of all men and women who have had a hair transplant procedure were younger than the age of 50.

Professional aesthetic surgeons such the ones from DK Hair Klinik use good medical practice combined with the latest technological advancements to improve the physical appearance of both women and men by curing the problem of baldness.

Implant and extraction tools

Despite it being early days, the latest developments to find a cure for baldness still mark exciting and significant progress for hair loss research and technology.

Technological advancements in the hair transplant industry have led to the creation of automated follicular unit extraction systems. Those devices use wireless connectivity to enable remote access for diagnostics, maintenance, automatic upgrades, and procedural data. Those new surgical implantation hand-tool help aesthetic surgeons deliver a more effective procedure for the patient.

The systems utilize a robot-assisted hair harvesting method that helps surgeons avoid unsightly scars of older techniques. Moreover, it ensures that individually grafted hair follicles are implanted with greater precision on the areas of low hair density such as the crown and hairline. It comes as no surprise that technological advancements have led to an increase in the rate of success in hair transplant procedures. Nowadays, not only that the results are more natural and last longer than when surgeons used older techniques, but the rate of success for hair grafting has achieved 90% for all grafted hairs.

3D printed follicle

Another revolutionary technology to cure baldness has been developed by L’Oreal which has teamed up with Poietis company to gain greater insight and understanding of hair biology and growth to create an innovative solution for hair loss. The two company have collaborated to design a technology based on 3D bio-printing to produce artificial hair follicles that can be used in hair replacement procedures.

Low-level laser therapy

Although it isn’t the latest development, low-level light lasers are a popular technology advocated by many physicians to re-grow hair. Studies have shown that the use of low-light laser leads to an increase in terminal hairs as well as an increase in the caliber of hairs and improved texture.

Hair loss can occur due to causes such as trauma, various dermatologic diseases, and systemic diseases. It can have profound effects on one’s self-esteem and emotional wellbeing as one’s appearance plays an important role in interpersonal relationships and having self-confidence.
