What It Takes for a Blog to Break Through the Noise in 2019

Daily blog posts on hosted WordPress version alone number to more than 2 million. If you include posts on its .ORG version plus those from other blogging platforms, the total can be more than 10 million blog posts daily. Free blogging guides like Create and Go's How to Start a Blog give bloggers useful tips that will help drive traffic to their blog. However, the sheer number of daily blog posts may lead some to think that it will be impossible for new bloggers to attract any attention, much less stand out. This is not necessarily true.

New bloggers who plan their blogs properly can become successful and generate decent revenues within a few months. Here are some tips for what you can do to make your blog break through the noise in 2019.

First Impressions Last

Aesthetics is important in driving traffic to your site. If your visitors see a disorganized, dated and bland website, they would think that the same is true with your content. Put in more time in researching the latest trends in website design when establishing the look of your brand. Use only high-quality photos and graphics. It will cost you a few pennies, but the investment will be worth it in the end.

Post Mind-blowing Content

The only way your content can take your followers captive is if it shows that you know what you are writing about. This is why choosing a niche where you have the most experience and proficiency in is important. Even though you are already an expert in your field, it will also be a good idea to do a quick research to make sure that your post is accurate and up-to-date.

Post Frequently

Based on a poll by HubSpot (News - Alert), those who post more than 16 times each month are more likely to drive more traffic to their blogs than those with only four posts or less. This is yet another reason why your blog should be about something that you are passionate about because you will be less likely to run out of things to share.

Go Technical

Put yourself in your target audience’s shoes and think of the keywords that they will likely be Googling. Instead of going with general keywords, which will have more competition, go with more specific and unique keywords. It can be specific to a unique subject on your post or a tip that your competition has not yet discussed in-depth.

Another technical aspect of your blog that you can use to improve your search engine optimization (SEO) is its meta description. Meta tags tell Google (News - Alert) what your post is all about. If you are using WordPress, download the Yoast SEO plug-in to help you come up with SEO-friendly keywords and meta tags.

Engage Your Audience (News - Alert)

Although you are writing about your passion, keep in mind that you are writing for an audience. Therefore, make your blog not all about you. Try to figure out what sparks the interest of your audience and make your content helpful. More than just relay information and tell your audience what to do, teach them how to do it as well. Make sure to include actionable tips and tutorials in your posts. This will keep your audience engaged and encourage them to keep coming back for more.

While there may be other ways to make your blog stand out, the five tips above should be enough to give you an edge. As you become more connected with your audience, it will be easier for you to come up with your own ideas on how to drive more traffic to your website. While breaking through the noise may take some effort, it is not at all impossible.
