Comings & Goings Week in Review

By Doug Barney, TMCnet Editor at Large

This week there was plenty of hiring and promoting in the analytics, mobile advertising, and networking spaces.

Starting with mobile advertising solutions, Toronto-based platform provider Addictive Mobility promoted its COO Naveed Ahmad to CEO. Ahmad has been with Addictive for some two years focusing on product development and marketing.

“This company has been built on the outstanding contribution of each staff member and leader, both past and present,” Ahmad said. “I have been fortunate to take over the reins of a company with a solid foundation that was laid by its founders and founding employees.”

Bluenose Analytics took a good hard look at its organization and decided it needed a chief customer officer, so it snapped up Catherine Blackmore for the job. The company is also getting its financing ducks in a row, having just been given a tidy $10 million investment from Norwest Venture Partners and The Social+Capital Partnership.

Interestingly, Blackmore actually beta tested Bluenose Analytics, and liked how it offered a single view of workflows and customer data.

Canadian service FlexITy Solutions has a new VP of sales and operations in the form of Rob Vos. The firm does support, security, UC, and infrastructure implementation and design. “Having Rob join our leadership team strengthens our ability to manage the demand for some of our newest offerings,” said Peter Stavropoulos, CEO and president of FlexITy. “A proven performer, he brings keen insight and valuable experience developing programs that specifically meets the needs of enterprise customers.”

Vos will join the company’s newly-formed Enterprise Software Solution team where he will help drive development and manage vendor relations.

“I am thrilled to be joining FlexITy,” said Rob. “FlexITy is a leader in shaping transformative services to drive business innovation, growth and competitive advantage for customers. Their ability to accurately adapt to market trends with services that fit the complex needs of businesses today has been proven by the rapid adoption of their new offerings at some of the largest Canadian companies.”

Networking vendor Brocade has hired a new distinguished engineer. Benson Schliesser is a 20-plus year technology veteran who will work on two hot new technologies, software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV). Schliesser held the same position previously with Juniper and was a principal engineer for Cisco (News - Alert). “Benson's history of leadership roles as an end-user, a vendor and in industry associations is a clear indication of his broad understanding of the evolving networking landscape and technologies,” said Ken Cheng, chief technology officer and vice president of corporate development and emerging business. “His past experience with leading large-scale cloud service rollouts and data center virtualization deployments will make Benson an invaluable resource for Brocade (News - Alert) customers who are focused on adopting SDN and NFV technologies.”
