Foxtel Taps Elemental for VOD, TV Everywhere Support

By Tara Seals, TMCnet Contributor

Australia’s largest pay-TV operator, Foxtel, has selected Elemental Technologies’ multiscreen video processing systems to power content delivery for video-on-demand (VOD) and catch-up television services across platforms.

Foxtel is employing multiple Elemental systems to process and deliver the content for the Foxtel Go over-the-top (OTT) and TV Everywhere services — this agreement expands the scope to include on-demand.

“Foxtel Go is a game-changing way for people to take their entertainment with them on the go. We are thrilled to offer our subscribers this fantastic way to enjoy our premium content,” said Brett Paton, head of product solutions design for Foxtel. “Elemental’s performance, integration, support and rapid delivery times went a long way towards helping our continued channel expansion.”

Foxtel Go service enables subscribers to watch the network’s premium TV shows, series and sports on iPhone (News - Alert) and iPad via a dedicated app (two devices can connect per account), and was recently expanded to offer more than 60 live channels covering drama, entertainment, documentaries, movies, sport, news, lifestyle, music and kids as well as additional catch up content. The package, included with a pay-TV subscription, includes every game of the 2013 Toyota AFL Premiership Season live on Footy Play.

“We are proud to provide Foxtel with the regional presence, local engineering and 24/7 support vital to meeting the most exacting consumer demands,” said David Godfrey, vice president of sales for Asia Pacific for Elemental. “Our roadmap assures a multiscreen video processing infrastructure that efficiently and effectively meets today’s consumer requirements and those that lie ahead.”
