ANPI Ups Focus on Business Solutions with Appointment of Ron Bailey

By Peter Bernstein, Senior Editor

ANPI, whose historical focus has been in the providing voice, data and tandem access services to wireless service providers, CLECs, ILECs and interexchange carriers nationwide, is now looking to extend its expertise to helping SMBs use SIP and hosted solutions to drive business results and leverage the full benefits of next-generation networking capabilities.

Having acquired Zone Telecomunications and its small but growing enterprise business, ANPI, which handles billons of minutes annually, has appointed industry and ANPI veteran Ronald R. Bailey as senior vice president and general manager of business solutions.

In this role, Bailey will be leading an executive management team responsible for all aspects of product development, operations and establishment of the indirect and direct channel management. As noted, Bailey is no stranger to ANPI having architected the company’s tandem access services and brought them to market in 2009.

Prior to his return, he served CenturyLink as vice president of sales in the regional marketing group where he guided all aspects of direct and indirect sales for the middle market organization in the Mountain and Midwest Regions.

Dave Lewis, ANPI’s chief executive officer, explained why bringing Ronnie back into the fold is so critical as the company looks to grow and extend its capabilities to helping SMBs; “As we started our initial planning to dramatically increase the focus, energy and investment devoted to our business services segment, we committed to assembling a world class team,” he said. “We tapped Ronnie to lead our Business Solutions group by virtue of his broad disciplinary background and acumen in the business solutions space as well as his clear leadership abilities. His historic familiarity with the organization and commitment to lead the creation of a new chapter in our corporate narrative as a leading business solutions service provider creates, without question, an energizing advancement for us.”

Bailey added, “It is an exciting time for communication providers leading the charge of aligning technological advancements with changing consumer preferences. ANPI has always progressively looked into the future and is uniquely-positioned to deliver a level of support and services for both the Carrier and SMB markets.” He continued, “The progressive and visionary leadership at ANPI fuels an unwavering commitment to deliver a game-changing product set to customers.”

In discussing with Bailey, whose organization will be targeting and why, he explained that, “Our target market is moving customers to hosted solutions that have between one and 50 seats. These are companies that don’t have sophisticated IT departments, but are a lot more technology savvy than most people think. They know they need to have the full benefits of the Internet Age as a competitive necessity as well as to be more agile, but they want the move to be easy, and without sticker shock.”

This, he said, is where ANPI can provide real value. “We can get them started with SIP, work with them on understanding the value of moving to hosted, and allow them to move to the capabilities they need to meet their unique business objectives at a pace and level of functionality that makes economic and competitive sense,” he stated.

He also noted that this is about building trust with a core customer set, and that he is looking to have a direct sales force as well as leverage the trust SMBs have with ANPI channel partners so that customers get the best possible service and support with the highest peace of mind.

“We think we have a great opportunity here since ANPI is a very good fast-follower, and the market is rewarding those who are fast in the market and best in the market and that is what we intend to be,” he concluded.

Not a bad prescription for success.
