Global Capacity Shares 2012 Success at Telx Marketplace Live Event

By Stefanie Mosca, TMCnet Managing Editor

Following the company’s recovery from bankruptcy as of late, Global Capacity came back stronger than ever a little over a year ago in August 2011 and hasn’t looked back since. In fact, just last month, the company, specializing in telecom information and logistics, announced record numbers thanks to its Ethernet, data center and One Marketplace services.

Part of that success can be attributed to a complete overhaul of the company’s management team. Just this fall, Global Capacity announced the transition of co-founder and CEO, Patrick Shutt, as the company’s new vice chairman of the board as well as COO, Jack Lodge, being promoted to president. Earlier this month, Global Capacity also announced the addition of Ben Edmond as the chief revenue officer responsible for all aspects of the buying and selling of the company’s operations including sales and marketing.

This week, when TMCnet spoke to Mary Stanhope, VP of marketing for the company, at Telx’s Marketplace Live event in NYC, she boasted of how the new management team has helped the company reach new heights in the market today.

In conjunction with the event this week, Global Capacity announced its partnership with Cerner (News - Alert) to offer Skybox Connect. With the help of Global Capacity’s network expertise, Cerner Skybox Connect is the first exclusive private network created to support the demanding needs of the healthcare industry, an industry Global Capacity knows well.  Stanhope added that Global Capacity approached Cerner with the recommendation of a scalable, private high speed network with redundancy and accessibility to Cerner’s community, which immediately sparked an interest and led to the partnership.

Earlier this month, Global Capacity’s One Marketplace Access Exchange was also named Best Technology Partner by Capacity Magazine (News - Alert), a great honor considering the rapid growth the company has been able to sustain over the last year. One Marketplace Access Exchange is an online portal that allows carriers to buy and sell more competitively through automated pricing and procurement of access network services.  In addition, One Marketplace is also interoperable with Telx’s Marketplace Live, which explains Global Capacity’s presence at the event today.

Stanhope attributes the success behind this award to the company’s innovation and impacting the direction the market is heading. She added that One Marketplace really puts the company in a unique position in the market because, while competitors may provide a platform that showcases the pricing of these services, Global Capacity is the only one that provides the option of automation of supply as well as the monitoring of suppliers and continuation of matching the services to ensure One Marketplace provides its customers with the most cost effective solution to match its needs.

In 2013, Stanhope said Global Capacity intends to continue building on the success it has had in the past year, including bringing on new customers and suppliers in rural areas and in high demand regions. She added that now that the company has maintained a considerable customer base, the focus in the new year will be execution. Stanhope also noted that while healthcare is one area of the markets that is most important to the company’s footprint, Global Capacity is also integrated into servicing municipalities and plans to expand its reach by working with education and retail verticals in the near future.
