Test Automation from QualiSystems Reduces Time to Market, Costs

By Ed Silverstein, TMCnet Contributor

QualiSystems (News - Alert) provides enterprise software solutions for test and lab automation, which leads to more innovation, efficiency and improved return on investment.

One of the company’s key products – the TestShell Framework – is used in North America, Asia-Pacific, Europe and the Middle East by network equipment manufacturers, telecom operators, data center providers, enterprises and electronics device manufacturers.

In the testing sector, one of the most significant new trends is the consolidation of labs. Many companies are trying to bring the number of labs down to one, two or three. Telcos and carriers are thereby able to lower their CAPEX.

“As this equipment gets more and more expensive, they can’t keep on buying multimillion dollars’ worth of equipment to put in a lab that’s only utilized 10 or 15 percent of the time,” Michael Yeager, vice president of sales for North America, QualiSystems, told TMCnet’s Erik Linask (News - Alert) in a recent interview.

Less testing leads to lower costs and reduced carbon footprint, as well.

Another important trend is how QualiSystems is seeing more remote access in testing. There is major time savings now, too, through automation. It used to take two weeks to set up a test, and now it can be done in a day. To see the entire interview, see above.

Last month, the company launched TestShell 4.8, which is a software framework for lab management, device provisioning and test automation. The new version lowers the time spent on topology, improves collaboration and increases flexibility.

New automation tools include new libraries that allow for a smoother interaction with lab devices. Also, users can maximize device utilization as they share devices and routes concurrently. In addition, lab managers can access intelligence on their lab operation and identify trends via TestShell advanced reporting and online dashboards.

"The new TestShell 4.8 framework continues QualiSystems' commitment to helping customers test their network infrastructure more effectively, while leveraging existing resources," Eitan Lavie, QualiSystems vice president of product management and marketing, said in a company statement. "With a friendlier user interface and a multitude of new features designed to enhance user experience, TestShell accelerates and simplifies the testing process, and guarantees the most powerful performance framework available in the market today."
