ARLab Launches Augmented Reality Solutions for Mobile App Developers

By David Gitonga, TMCnet Contributing Writer

“The way in which some daily events are carried out could change forever with the use of Augmented Reality (AR). Actions like reading a newspaper or a magazine, or even shopping will not even be the same with the use of this fast growing technology, which is becoming more and more used by mobile applications developers.”

This is a statement by Pablo Garcia, the chief technology officer at ARLab. According to Garcia, ARLab is mainly focused on developers, the AR Browser and Image Matching, revolutionary AR solutions.

Garcia was speaking during the unveiling of two new augmented reality solutions, the AR Browser and Image Matching, developers’ technological solutions that are simple to use and that let developers code apps quickly.

The AR Browser adds a geolocation view on Android (News - Alert) and iOS apps with a fully customizable look and feel using a simple-to-use API. All the complex functionalities of augmented reality browser are handled by the framework allowing the developer to focus on app development.

The Image Matching technology, on the other hand, enables real-time image recognition. Developers integrate the augmented reality Software Development Kit (SDK) in mobile applications, allowing thousands of images on a device to be matched without the need for an Internet connection.

By using a smartphone’s powerful hardware, image processing can be done in milliseconds with no pre-processing required.

A new community for developers is also available to share, learn and ask fellow developers and create greater engagement for both users and companies. The Linkar community will also allow developers to publish and promote their own apps as well as buy SDK licenses. This will create an environment where developers can learn and share ideas while also giving them an opportunity to make business with their apps and projects.

ARLab will support the entire platform with the release of its full open source projects like BoxOffice and ARPic Browser developer.
