Brooklyn's New Music-Inspired Hotel BPM Officially Opens

By Daniel Brecht, Contributing Writer

Hotel BPM, in Brooklyn, NY, has officially opened its doors to guests. This is a music-inspired hotel owned by DJ Bijal Panwala, a Hip Hop, Reggae, Rhythm and Blues performer who created this “lifestyle hotel themed around all things music.” Who else would call their place for guests Hotel BPM (Beats per Minute) other than a DJ?

This is an “upbeat” 3-star hotel that has music playing throughout the property; often, the songs come from a playlist: the type of music playing is mostly those songs that have been requested by the guests at either check-in or during their stay.

In each of the 75 air-conditioned rooms at Hotel BPM, guests will find that there are volume control knobs on the room wall to turn-up, down, or off the music that is continuously playing until about midnight each day. When a guest, for example, happens not to like a song or is no longer interested in hearing music, he/she has the option to twiddle with the volume control knobs to take control of the problem – in this case, the sound of music. Since guests rooms have been soundproofed, no one has to worry about any noise when they want silence.

If guests want more music entertainment, in addition to listening to a playlist of songs on Bose surround sound speakers that are found throughout the hotel, there are also iPod docking stations and a wide selection of music-themed magazines in the rooms.

Hotel BPM is considered a boutique hotel offering a club-like appearance with neon tube lighting in the lobby, a white, green, and black color scheme in the rooms, and a symbol of an equalizer as the hotel’s logo. The hotel is unique and is a smoke-free property. It is a place for people to relax, enjoy music or watch TV on a 40-inch high-definition screen in their room, and be able to see the many tourist sites in New York.  A glimpse of what NY offers can be seen from the hotels’ rooftop, which is open for guests to see the panoramic views of Brooklyn as well as Manhattan.

There are no suites at this hotel; guest rooms are classified as either Kings or Doubles. Each room has designer furniture and “custom BPM brand mattresses, nightstands and dressers,” says an editor of the BIBI Magazine. Guests also have their own bathrooms (done in porcelain finish).

Since opening day, in August, guests have already been enjoying this fun DJ theme residence. Those guests who have already been there have said the Hotel BPM offers a comfortable and memorable stay.  They also recommend this hotel for tourists coming in to the NY area in search for a place to stay. Hotel BPM offers just the place and free music entertainment, free Wi-Fi, and a complimentary breakfast for the price of $229-$249/night. In addition to guest rooms, the hotel also has a bar/lounge area and a meeting/conference room.
