By Ed Silverstein, TMCnet Contributor

AT&T (News - Alert) will sell Pantech’s Crossover starting on Sunday, according to media reports. The smartphone will cost $69.99 and will include a two-year contract and monthly data plan.

The Crossover is the first Pantech Android (News - Alert) O.S. device to be sold in the U.S., according to ComputerWorld.

The Crossover features a 3.1-inch touch screen and slide-out Qwerty keyboard. The Crossover smartphone works on the Android 2.2 OS. The Crossover has a 600MHz processor.

The Crossover features a 3-megapixel digital camera with camcorder, and a 2GB microSD memory card that can be upgraded to 32GB.

The battery on the Crossover’s has up to five hours of use, ComputerWorld says. The device measures 4.45 x 2.28 x 0.56 inches and weighs 5.15 ounces.

AT&T adds that the Crossover is “perfect for first-time smartphone users.”

“The Pantech Crossover makes it seamless for active people to stay connected through messaging and social media,” said a press release carried by TMCnet. It is also “ideal” for users “looking for additional features, personalization and convenience in their next phone.”

In addition, TFTS says that the Crossover will come as a “Google (News - Alert) handset, which means access to the Android Market along with the other goodies from Google. Plus, it will also serve as an AT&T Mobile Hotspot, that is, assuming you have that added to your monthly plan.”

Pantech Crossover will be available from AT&T at company-owned stores and via online at www.att.com.

In a related matter, Pantech Crossover will be one of the phones promoted during the summer on the Dew Tour, a major sports tour, of which Pantech is the official handset sponsor. Starting in June 2005, the Dew Tour is the first “action sports” tour in the United States. It features four events, with the first stop of the 2011 Dew Tour making its debut on the beach in Ocean City, Maryland. The tour features skate park and vert, as well as BMX park, vert and dirt. The 2011 tour will also feature a skate bowl – a first for the tour.
