Canon Announces New Line of Powershot Cameras

It appears that in 2013, digital camera makers are going to be looking to adapt to the market place in a way they haven't before. Some companies that aren't camera makers per say are also trying to adapt to the changing times brought on by smartphones with high resolution cameras. Canon (News - Alert) is one company taking on the popularity of smartphones, equipped with cameras, head on, with the announcement of its new line of Powershot cameras.

Showing off the new line at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Canon brought a host of new Powershot cameras to the fold, including the rather small Powershot N. The Powershot N has been described as having quite a bit of personality, including the ability to instantly share user's pictures on the Web, which seems to be quickly becoming a feature all new digital cameras have.

The Powershot N has Wi-Fi connectivity built in, as well as a flip- up screen and optical zoom that go as high as 8x. The tiny camera also has a 2.8-inch touchscreen that can tilt for easier use and a 28mm wide-angle lens. According to Canon, the N will be available on the market starting in April of this year and will carry an MSRP of $299.99 in both black and white frames.

Besides launching the new camera, Canon is also refreshing some of its other Powershot cameras, such as the ELPH 130 IS. This camera has a more familiar size, but also has built in Wi-Fi connectivity. Users can print directly to any Canon Wi-Fi equipped printer. These cameras can also share images on the Web when using the Camera Window application for Android (News - Alert) and iOS. This model is expected to be on the market in February and will have a price tag of $199.99.

For those who are looking for a more affordable model, Canon is releasing the Powershot A1400. This is a 16-megapixel camera that has AA batteries. This is coming with a $109.99 price tag (News - Alert) and is also expected to be available in February.
