Ericsson Announces Partnership with Maersk Lines at CES

Most people who hear the Ericsson name automatically think of Sony Ericsson and the collaboration that puts out some of the most popular Android (News - Alert) OS smartphones in the world. And while Ericsson (News - Alert) can certainly be proud in their part of that endeavor, the company wants to, and should be known by much more in the long run.

Ericsson has been using this year's CES (News - Alert) to display just some of the innovations that company is working on. One new tech that Ericsson showed off on the main stage yesterday was the ability to actually use the human being as a conductor for data such as images and music.

The company also talked about a kind of technology they feel could be a bit of a game changer. “When you start to use the combination of software, sensors, and hardware, then you can improve processes and enable new ideas to turn into business. The result will be greater than anyone can imagine,” Ericsson CEO Hans Vestberg (News - Alert) told those gathered at CES during his Keynote address.

Vestberg noted that advantages of his company's sector in the tech industry can help a lot of different separate sectors. Vestberg said that in particular his company will be able to make sure that any device can communicate with payment systems as well as send and receive relevant information in the blink of an eye. These particular benefits will therefore be recognized both in the personal and business world.

During his keynote, Vestberg also announced that Ericsson was entering into a partnership with the world's largest shipping company, Maersk Line. The two companies have collaborated in a new kind of GSM and satellite tracking system that will deal with the ability to better track a shipment as it crosses the oceans.

Mark White, the president of Maersk appeared onstage with Vestberg and talked about what he thought the agreement would accomplish. “The implementation of this network will represent a noticeable improvement in connectivity at sea, and we look forward to exploring the benefits this will bring to Maersk Line and our customers in the future.”
