P&F Unveils Phillips Soundbar to Stream Movies from Android Devices to TV

P&F announced that it launched its new Philips Soundbar, at CES 2012, for seamlessly streaming movies directly from an Android (News - Alert) phone or tablet to the TV. P&F is an exclusive licensee for Philips consumer televisions and home theaters in North America.

P&F, a subsidiary of the Funai Electric Co., LTD, Inc., is the exclusive licensee for Philips (News - Alert) consumer televisions and home theaters and Philips Hospitality in North America.

It has been designed for convenience and according to officials the new Philips Soundbar (CSS5123) will be operable by the simple touch of the finger. It will suit those with a large library of movies on hard disks, PCs, tablets or smart phones.

Todd Richardson (News - Alert), senior vice president of sales and marketing for P&F said in a release, “Consumers want simplicity and want their technology to work together. With tablet sales on the rise and the increase of applications on smart phones, we are excited to offer the first Soundbar solution that offers Android streaming.”

“There are plenty of ‘one bar’ solutions on the market, but we recognize the consumer want to save space without compromising sound.  Philips Labs have done an amazing job making this a true Soundbar Home Theater,” he added.

The new Philips Soundbar Home Cinema Speaker features streaming function. Content stored in an Android tablet, Android smart phone or PC, can be released from any DLNA-enabled device with features like SimplyShare and the built-in Wi-Fi functionality. Users can enjoy them on a big screen owing to the integrated smart media player. Users can even hook up a portable hard drive or thumb drive.

Officials emphasized that the sound experience of users will be greatly enhanced as the sound bar offers virtual surround sound technology. Also it is designed with a unique oval design and is thin enough to fit perfectly in front of the TV without blocking the picture.

The built-in stand can be tilted so that the Soundbar offers better sound. Also the wireless subwoofer gives stellar bass. The CSS5123 is compatible with TVs, BD/DVD players, gaming consoles and MP3 players. This optimizes the sound for watching a movie, listening to a new album, TV series or for a game.

In August 2011, P&F announced ActiveVideo Networks’ TAG Games in the new Philips 4000 and 5000 television series with MediaConnect technology. Now consumers can play more than a dozen different games such as Sudoku, Club 21, Mummy Maze or High Stakes Hold ‘Em on the TV by themselves, with a family member or with someone a thousand miles away via Internet connectivity.

Philips MediaConnect allows consumers to wirelessly connect the PC to the TV for unlimited access to online movies, photos, documents, videos, social networking and more.
