Verizon Wireless and Kopin Demo Golden-i Computing Headsets on Verizon 4G LTE Network

Major telecom service provider Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless and Kopin Corporation, a provider of voice-activated, wireless and hands-free headsets, announced that Golden-i Computing Headsets utilizing Verizon's 4G LTE network, will demonstrate their "Remote Video Expertise" capability at CES (News - Alert) 2012.

Offering a full PC experience, Kopin’s Golden-i is a wireless cloud computing and communication headset operated by speech recognition and/or natural gestures.

Golden-I, with attached or wireless remote cameras, is designed to allow operator and participants to see exactly the same image simultaneously. It can also provide real-time streaming video to both the operator and other participants, according to a press release.

The combination of Golden-i's capabilities allows users to wirelessly access critical information over the Internet while also interacting with one or more off-site technicians or subject matter experts to solve the problem.

"In order for Golden-i to reach its true potential, it needs the power that Verizon's 4G LTE (News - Alert) network provides," said John C.C. Fan, president and chief executive officer of Kopin, in a statement.

"The data handling capacity and exceptional signal strength of Verizon's 4G LTE service is critical for organizations focused on remote service, maintenance, medical services and public safety. We believe the CES presentation is the first time industry will see the vast benefits that collaborations between Verizon's 4G LTE and Kopin's Golden-i can offer to future productivity improvements," Fan added.

Thanks to its innovations, Kopin Corporation's Golden-i has received the 2011 Product Innovation of the Year award from the Technical Service Industry Association (TSIA) and 2011 "Best in Show" award from World Future Society.

Recently, Kopin announced the availability of Development Kits for its Golden-i 3.5 Hands-Free Computing Headset. The company also said that its Golden-i 3.5 headset has been certified by the Federal Communications Commission which is believed to be a significant milestone.
