Polkast, a provider of personal cloud service to securely connect a user's computers and mobile devices directly, announced that it will showcase a prototype of its latest advancement on the ZyXEL Media Server NSA300 series at CES (News - Alert) 2012.

The integration of Polkast into ZyXEL's digital home solutions is expected to transform the in-home network and entertainment content into a secure personal cloud.

The ZyXEL Media Server will become the center of the user's personal cloud with the integration of Polkast. Users can secure anytime access to files from any authorized device. The integration enables users to search files, browse photos and play music stored on the Media Server.

Users will benefit as they can also share files that reside on their Media Server seamlessly and securely, even while away from their home. The content stays within the user's control in their own home network environment, unlike third party cloud storage solutions.

A press release said that ZyXEL will release the personal could solution on Media Server NSA300 Series with Polkast integrated at CeBIT (News - Alert) in March 2012.

 The integration is important as network storage devices, such as the ZyXEL Media Server, are a vital solution for consumers who have large media libraries. The personal cloud is an ideal solution for direct anytime access to large media libraries. Because they need cloud server to upload and download files, cloud storage solutions cannot take advantage of fast local connections when the devices are on the same network.

Recently Polkast announced that it will be transforming personal cloud computing with its new PC-to-PC Access feature.
