Evolutions Receives CES Award for Innovative Design and Engineering

Pasadena, Calif. based robotics technology company, Evolution Robotics, Inc., announced the winning of prestigious International CES (News - Alert) Innovations 2011 Design and Engineering Award for one of its latest products.

Through a press release, Evolution Robotics announced that the company's Mint Automatic Floor Cleaner won in the Portable Home Appliances category. A panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and journalists selected the floor cleaner for its “outstanding” design and engineering.

In the release, the maker of Mint also said that this robotic floor cleaning product is designed for the modern homes. Powered by a range of sensors and advanced navigation technology, this new age floor cleaner can easily adapt to any home environment and with a push of a button it performs all its tasks silently and efficiently.

Mint is designed exclusively for hard surface floor cleaning. Mint automatically dusts and wet mops hard surface floors using popular disposable electrostatic cleaning cloths and reusable microfiber cloths. According to its maker, Mint delivers a systematic and thorough floor cleaning.

“We’re honored to have Mint selected to receive this prestigious award. Mint’s design allows it to seamlessly integrate into the home environment and, with the push of a button, Mint silently and efficiently makes the daily chore of cleaning your floors a thing of the past,” CEO of Evolution Robotics Dr. Paolo Pirjanian said in a statement.

Look and feel is one of the strong points of Mint. Evolution partnered with  industrial designer Yves Behar and his team at fuseproject to create something different from essentially masculine and techno-looking products available in the market. At the same time, the designer team did not lose their focus on the usability factor.

“Until now, home cleaning technologies frankly looked like sci-fi toys. Our belief is that by focusing on a simple and fail-safe consumer experience fused with a clean-modern aesthetic, we create a familiar and friendly product and brand. CES’s recognition is a great way to show the perfect marriage between sophisticated technology and considered design,” Yves Behar explained.

This latest recognition from the Consumer Electronics Association (News - Alert) adds to Mint’s growing list of awards, including a Popular Mechanics’ Editor’s Choice award for best new product at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and the IDEA (International Design Excellence Award) in the “Home Living” category by the Industrial Design Society of America.

Just before the holiday season started in early December, Evolution Robotics announced that the company's Mint Automatic Floor Cleaner was selling out at some retail locations and limited supplies remained through the holidays.
