Asterisk, HTML5 and NodeJS; a world of endless possibilities

Dan Jenkins Holiday Extras Dan Jenkins By using cutting edge NodeJS and HTML5 technologies, Holiday Extras have created a new layer to their CRM system; this is as a result of the $800,000 that they have invested in hassle-free technology. Contact Centre agents now benefit from an immediate connection with Asterisk via their browser. The Asterisk-AMI module has been open-sourced on Node's Package Manager (npm) allowing widespread creation of real-time applications using NodeJS. During the session, we will implement a browser-based application inspired by Holiday Extras' work. Using HTML5 Web Sockets and NodeJS, we will produce an extremely powerful tool capable of instantaneous interaction with Asterisk through the AMI. The in-application possibilities are boundless, allowing customised Contact Centre administration that includes the dynamic management of agent call queues at peak times and instantaneous collective system control. The limitations are few, stretching only to the user's imagination and the fast-growing abilities of the AMI. https://github.com/holidayextras/node-asterisk-ami http://search.npmjs.org/#/asterisk-ami http://www.holidayextras.co.uk
